No more parking discounts for Jehovah's Witnesses at Jersey City lot

JERSEY CITY -- Whoops! A private parking lot in the Journal Square area of Jersey City, across the street from the large Jehovah's Witness Hall (which is also a historic movie theater), has had to stop offering discounts to people using the hall.

Why? Their sign made it seem as though they were offering a discount to those of a certain religion.

An organization called the "Freedom from Religion Foundation" had its attorney write a letter in September to Harwood Properties, which owns the lot. According to the organization's website, the letter says:

"Providing discounts only to members of the Jehovah's Witnesses faith violates the federal Civil Rights Act, along with New Jersey state law and the city code of Jersey City. The Civil Rights Act states in relevant part, 'All persons shall be entitled to the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, and accommodations of any place of public accommodation . . . without discrimination on the ground of race, color, religion, or national origin.' "

The city got involved, too, so the property owner agreed to stop giving the discount, especially since it wasn't subsidized by the Jehovah's Witnesses.

The Freedom from Religion Foundation is based in Wisconsin and "is a national association of freethinkers (atheists, agnostics) that has been working since 1978 to keep church and state separate."

Their website is here.

To the owners of the parking lot, I have an idea. Give a discount to every one on Saturdays and Sundays. Most of your clientele is going to be the Witnesses anyway. And the Freedom from Religion Fanatics won't have their way.

I have attended a couple of conventions at the old Stanley Theater. Actually, these are public gatherings open to people of many religions. Some Catholics and Prostestants have attended. Also Muslims and Buddhists. Actually, because the meetings are open to the public it is hard to know the religious or non-religious background of all in attendance. The parking discount is offered to all who attend. It appears to me that the Freedom from Religion Foundation is pursuing their goals with a fervor and fanaticisim that mimics most religious extremists.

The A,B,C 1 2 3 of JW Issues

Jehovah's Witnesses would be obscure and no one would say anything negative about them except they cause these problems:

1) break up families under the guise of Jesus said so.

2) let kids die from no blood transfusion then say it's from God and then have all kinds of you can use blood parts loopholes.

3) go door to door and lie about why they are really there say it's to encourage Bible reading when they want to get literature in your hands ask for donation and then come back bothersome because you took literature just to be nice to them.

Get rid of these 3 things and you will do fine.

Why give Jehovah's Witnesses special rights when they believe all none JW's are going to be destroyed soon at the end of the world...plus they are a bunch of hypocrites who don't treat people lovingly which violates Jesus command to love your enemies. They are self-righteous and dysfunctional.

Jehovah's Witnesses DISCRIMATE A LOT against others and are very oppressive and intrusive then get smug if they do not get their way.
