This year’s Hall of Fame inductee is Brandon L. Smith Class of 2003 – Athletics.
Brandon L. Smith was born and raised in Bayonne, one of five children of Darleana and Robert Nevith and Biological father Darrell Fraiser. He attended Horace Mann Elementary School and Bayonne High School. While at Bayonne High School Brandon excelled in athletics; he was a part of Freshman Football and Basketball Hudson County Championship teams. While on Varsity, he was an integral part of Bayonne High School’s First State Football Championship team in 2002. As a senior he was voted 1st team All County and voted the 2002 Defensive Player of the Year for Hudson County. He was a member of Bayonne High School 2003 Hudson County Basketball Championship team as well. After high school, Brandon accepted a Full Athletic Scholarship to the University of Massachusetts where he won Conference Championships in 2003 and 2006. He was also an integral part of UMass making it all the way to the 2006 National Championship Game. After UMass Brandon had the privilege of a tryout for the New York Giants, eventually settling in playing Semi-pro football where he won the 2010 Metro Bowl Championship and the 2011 & 2012 Harvest Bowl Championship with the NJ Buccaneers. He continues his passion for football and basketball through coaching at Bayonne High School. Brandon has coached Varsity Football as an assistant for 8 years and basketball for five years. In his spare time he is one of the board members on the Bayonne Renegades Youth Football as the President of the League.
