Division of Recreation announces the upcoming events and activities for Special Needs Sports Program

The following is the schedule of upcoming events and activities for the Division of Recreation’s Special Needs Program:

Indoor Soccer – January 15, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Rich Korpi Arena

Dance – January 21 from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m., teaming up with Dance with Me Studios, for a dance class. Class will take place in the dance studio on the 2nd floor at the Rich Korpi Arena.

Super Bowl Party/Football Event – February 5, (time TBA) at Rich Korpi Arena. Participants will have the opportunity to go through a football obstacle course, try on football uniforms, and more. Pizza will be served and the dietitian from Inserra Shoprite will also be on site to help everyone make a Super Bowl snack.

Field Trip: Sensory-Friendly Bubble Show – February 19 in Rahway, NJ. Showtime is 2 p.m. Union County’s Sensory Friendly Theatre series explores the wonders of science in the dynamic and uniquely funny live performance of “Bubble Trouble” on stage at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, NJ. A bubble volcano? Bubble roller coaster? A kid in a bubble? Jeff Boyer takes bubbles to the max in this one-man bubble extravaganza. It’s the craziest, most creative bubble show around. Jeff juggles bubbles, sculpts and builds with bubbles, makes fog-filled bubbles and more. Mixing comedy, music and interactive bubble-magic, he engages and delights audiences of all ages. For each of the performances in Union County’s Sensory Friendly Theatre series, the theatre environment at the Union County Performing Arts Center is adjusted to provide a sensory-friendly, comfortable and judgment-free space that is welcoming for all families.
