Summer Concerts on the Hudson celebrates the art of Flamenco on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. at Lincoln Harbor Park. Some of the world’s finest flamenco musicians and dancers will perform under the direction of noted Flamenco guitarist Pedro Cortes.
This concert will feature original music from Cortes’ new CD “Los Viejos No Mueren” played by Cortes and his world-class band.
Featured guest artists will include dancers Auxi Fernandez and Oscar Valero and singer Jesus Montoya. Fernandez has performed on the stages of Sapin’s El Teatro Real, NYC’s City Center and Mexico’s Bellas Artes.
Valero, originally from Valencia, Spain, is a multitalented and versatile flamenco dancer, singer and percussionist who has been a soloist with the Antonio Canales Flamenco Company and the María Pagés Dance Company.
Jesus Montoya, born into one of the oldest Gypsy families in Seville, Spain, has collaborated with many of the greatest Flamenco companies, dancers, and musicians the world over. An accomplished recording artist, Montoya was featured on the Grammy winning Deutsche Grammophon recording of Osvaldo Golijov’s “AINADAMAR.”
