A funeral service was held Dec. 12 for Fred William Gebhardt, Sr., 83, of Piscataway. He died Dec. 9 at Jersey Shore Nursing Home in Eatontown. He was born in Guttenburg. Fred was also a resident of Jersey City for 40 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. Fred worked as a cab driver for Bergen Taxi of Jersey City for many years, retiring in 2007. Fred was predeceased by his son, Karl Gebhardt, who died in 2009. Surviving are Fred’s four sons, Doug and his wife Patricia of Jersey City, Stephen and his wife Donna of Kannopolis, N.C., Fred Jr. and his finance Virginia D’Amico of Piscataway, and James and his wife Charolette of Dunellen. Fred is also survived by 14 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a daughter in law, Carolyn Gebhardt, of Bound Brook. Services arranged by the Sheenan Funeral Home, Dunellen.
