Dear Editor:
In light of the massive destruction caused by hurricane Sandy, I am extremely disappointed in Beth Mason that during this time of recovery she would pursue a lawsuit against the City of Hoboken over the appointment of Jim Doyle to the Hoboken City Council. I do not know Jim Doyle personally but from afar he seems like the type of individual who is concerned with doing what is best for the citizens of Hoboken. Ms. Mason, on the other hand, seems to have forgotten that she represents the people who live in the 2nd ward of Hoboken.
Many of us who live in the 2nd ward (examples: The Shipyard, Hudson Tea and Maxwell Place) expect our elected officials to do what is best for the community at large and hold them to a high standard of ethical behavior accordingly. Unfortunately, Ms. Mason has failed miserably in both regards. To that first point, her refusal to vote in favor of various common sense improvements to the City of Hoboken is irrational at best. I cannot express in a short letter all of the many instances but a few examples include: 1) Mason’s vote against the simple refinancing of the hospital garage that ended up costing the city approximately 4 million dollars out of last years’ budget; 2) her vote against street improvements to Washington Street, Newark Street, Sinatra Drive and Observer Highway; and 3) her vote against putting up a traffic light at 16th and Willow. In regard to my second point, her association with individuals that reek of ethical improprieties is very disconcerting to say the least. To this point, I recently read in the Hoboken Reporter that Ms. Mason currently employs an individual who was accused of harassing an official of the board of education as well as her young daughter? Why would she continue to employ such an individual? In addition, it was reported a truck paraded around town in support of the Move Forward campaign displaying inappropriate images?
There are many questions in this regard that surround Ms. Mason and have been the focus of some local internet blogs. I understand Ms. Mason must be very disappointed with all of the attention she has drawn from these blogs (e.g. “The Hudson Mile Square View” and “Grafix Avenger”) but she has done nothing to explain her actions or address the issues these blogs have brought to the public’s attention?
In my personal opinion, Ms. Mason has completely lost touch with her constituents in the 2nd ward. She continues to take positions on important matters affecting Hoboken that, I believe, are counter intuitive to what most 2nd ward residents would want. Therefore, if Ms. Mason is not willing to do what is in the best interests of her constituents then I would respectfully request that she resign and give someone else a chance to do what is in their best interests.

depicted on the nazi truck in our neighborhood?
It's not surprising that Mason has been able to bully the residents of Hoboken for so long now. Most of the local press is in fear of her money and her venomous ways.
These old school slimebags have no ethics or morals. They will stop at nothing to protect their racket, which includes
slander, theft, intimidation, bribery, and in some cases violence.
Just taking one look at her photo is the ultimate bring down.
Remember, it was Beth Mason who saved the hospital after trying to close it and that is far more important than these complaints.
She may be out of touch but that doesn't mean it can't be remedied. We're planning another trip by the Nazi Truck with a brand new video production. When the public sees this video, they will definitely understand Councilwoman Beth Mason is the victim, believe you me.
Political operatives for Beth Mason are victims too. None of this would be necessary if Peter Cunningham and Jen Giattino insisted on representing their wards and getting elected. Don't even get us started on Mayor Zimmer.
This will not be in the Hoboken Reporter any time soon as it would pretty much shut up anyone other than a paid hack like hogwash when it comes to defending Beth's county political campaign dressed up as a charity.
GA has every right to be angry at Boopless. The entire faux outrage over the use of "nazi" imagery. GA used the same font as a poster from a universally recognized masterpiece of cinema that hapepned to have been made during the Third Reich and made a pun out of the movie title. Betty Boopless paid for an effing NAZI SWASTIKA to be paraded aorund town in front of a school and parked on Washignton Street. Big, big difference. In any event, GA was a big enough person, unlike the crucifix wearing Boopless, who was born and rasied in Jewish household and who had relatives perish in the Holocasut, to discuss the matter with Hoboken's Jewish community leaders and apologize if she had been insensitive. Beth? She runs and hides! Shameless and cowardly to the core. Shun the evil witch. Watch her melt if you throw a glass of water on her.
I get no respect I tell you.
Even my dog didn't like me.
My parents had to tie a pork chop around my neck to get our dog to play with me.
Replace over a million dollars of her husband's money for that pork chop and......
Want to get started on a litany of abuses and unbridled evilness demonstarted by the Haridan of Hudson Street? Ok, as for Betty Boopless calling the police on GA, that was a cowardly and despicable abuse of power and influence as a sitting council person to silendce a political critic. That act alone renders her unfit to hold office. There was never any CREDIBLE belief that GA was intending to actually cause harm to anyone. It is called satire. Digsuting on Bet's part. Get the picture? there is an entire history of Beth's deliberate acts of spite, hatred and antipathy against anyone that she beleives stands in her way. And if she cant silence her critics by intimidation, she will use her husband's money to sue them into silence. So please tell me all about what a nice and genteel person the b___h really is.
And for anyone on the "wrong side" of Beth Mason, there is plenty to fear. From using her immense wealth to sue Councilman Doyle and his allies on the City Council, to sending thugs to public meetings to photograph board members for the Move Forward Nazi Truck- an obscenity orchestrated by Mason's own political operatives- and coordinated with a city-wide midnight flyer attacking that same board member, a blogger openly critical of Mason (me).
Anyone who supports the Zimmer administration and speaks publicly (or blogs) against Mason moves into her cross-hairs.
Just ask the 22 bloggers being sued by her 2 operatives in a classic SLAPP suit: a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation. Simply put: to shut us up and make others afraid to speak out. When the truth comes out I hope the press will give equal time to the defense of these politically-motivated allegations.
Will they?
Until now, The Hoboken Reporter has been willing to embellish the libelous allegations of known Mason operatives while ignoring the gross factual errors, misstatements and political spin in their complaint. Why?
How ironic, to be called a "bully" by a wealthy Councilwoman who plays the courts like a violin in order to hurt others- be they critics or City Councilman Doyle and the entire City of Hoboken as we all struggle to recover from this disaster.
Yes, like a classic bully, Mason uses her wealth to force others into courtrooms, to deplete their savings defending themselves against frivolous, politically motivated complaints. And of course, the City uses YOUR money when she sues the City- like the one against Jim Doyle.
Which is exactly why so few have spoken out. They are afraid.
And she continues to make examples of bloggers, who expose her unethical behavior. Note who starred on The Nazi Truck- MSV's Da Horsey and me, both bloggers.
Here is just one of the most recent truths about Mason (one of many) that my blog has exposed: one 'charity' her ' recovery fund' (HudsonCountyRecovers.org) is sponsoring is Mayor Richard Turner's 527 political organization "Weehawken and You Civic Association."
While this 'fund' claims to help Hudson County rcover, it only sponsors Ruben Ramos' 33rd Assembly District and HCDO Chairman's Mark Smith's Bayonne; a FEMA survey showed Weehawken had 1 damaged structure, Union City and Bayonne had 2 each, Jersey City had 10 and Hoboken had 2, 248. By far, Hoboken has suffered far, far greater impact than other Hudson County municipalitites. But as the Sandlers point out, Beth Mason has turned her back on Hoboken and her 2nd Ward constituents.
Now she is hosting a gala for HudsonCountyRecovers at a restaurant in Secaucus- NOT Hoboken, as our business community struggles to recover. Why isn't Mason giving this business to one of Hoboken's many fine restaurants? Why isn't she focused on the people of Hoboken who elected her?
This is what the Sandlers are talking about.
She won't resign, of course. I urge her 2nd Ward constituents to advance a recall effort. Councilwoman Mason does worse than nothing- she actively works against the interests of her constituents and this City.
All on the public dole- yes, WE pay her salary.

It was the Grafix Avenger that originally posted Nazi images on her site in a twisted effort to malign Mason. Please don't feign outrage over the Nazi truck. It rings very hollow.
All the criticism of the Doyle suit fails to mention that it was successful. Obviously this appointment was done incorrectly and was corrected by Mason's suit which makes it far from frivolous. Hard to be critical of government acting improperly.
As for the criticism of donating funds to Weehawken and Bayonne- I drove through the shades after Sandy. It was devastated. I am sure the victims in Weehawken greatly appreciate Mason' generosity. Bayonne was similarly affected in certain neighborhoods and also must be appreciative of any help. I think FEMA still has a recovery center in Bayonne.
Many people have a lot of money and do nothing with it. I think Beth needs to be appreciated for the good she does.
Mason is no saint but she has committed many selfless acts of good throughout Hoboken, Hudson County and New Jersey. You are blinded by your rage to any good that she does and that is just plain wrong.
A Superior Court judge ordered a full vote of the Newark council and it will probably be the same here.
Stick to the agreed upon talking points and stop freelancing. The blowback isn't going to help us or Councilwoman Mason.
While I understand your disappointment, I do not understand any expectation you have at this point that Beth listens to the public at large or cares what critics say. Just look at the short list of her anti-Hoboken transgressions in your own letter to the editor. This is depraved indifference, not some sort of correctable defect in her perspective.
She is not going to have a change of heart or leave office willingly. She needs to be forcibly thrown out. Or you will just end up writing this letter again in 6 months with a longer list of outrageous acts against the city.
I have mixed feelings when I hear Elizabeth Mason is actively seeking to leave the City Council for a County level office. I certainly would rather see her in a place where she is less able to continue to harm the people of Hoboken on a regular basis but have serious concerns that if elected to any office, that based on her record, she could not be trusted to put the public's interest above her own.
