Dear Editor:

Many families are hurting in this town. Our families matter just as much to us, as yours do to you. I love this town and all the good it has done and produced. Yet, there remains plenty to be fixed.

As I meet and listen to more and more residents, I am hopeful that we can improve, be more transparent, available, and attentive to address the many needs of our citizens. I am fighting for the honor to represent all the people of Weehawken and not just some.

Your last name, should not be the determining factor on whether you receive a job, a job reference, a college reference, medical benefits, a handicapped parking space, an apartment, a spot on a list, a promotion, a permit, a raise or a cost of living increase.

Weehawken and you can be proud of those they have helped, but many more families need help. My grandparents, God rest their souls, have all passed on to the other world, but I know plenty of senior citizens in town who are suffering because they don't have the right connections in Town Hall.

We love our families just like you do.

I humbly ask that you consider voting B1 on May 13 – Joseph Mendez for 3rd Ward Councilman. Allow me the privilege to represent you and your family. With your help, we can take back Weehawken.

Joseph Mendez
