On April 6 the Bayonne Little League baseball/softball program will hold its opening-day ceremonies, to begin its 63rd season. The day will begin with a parade down Broadway to show support for its sponsors. The teams will assemble at 10:30 a.m. at 31st Street and Avenue C. The parade starts at 11. The teams will march down 31st Street to Broadway, down Fifth Street to Avenue C, then to First Street, and finish at the Little League complex. Opening Day ceremonies at Volunteer Stadium begin at noon, followed by a game at a 1.

The league was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. The officers, managers, coaches, players, volunteers, and parents thank the league’s sponsors, who made this baseball/softball season possible.

There are too many donors to list them all. The following went above and beyond: Anonymous corporate, Bayonne Community Bank, Bobby Ballance (Bob’s Carpet), Gene Perry, Guilio Passarelli Bayonne Chain Link Fence, Hudson County Homing Pigeon Club, Kathleen Walrod, Major League Baseball Tomorrow Fund, Parade Magazine, Pitch in for Baseball, Ports America Auto Terminal, Rich Torres Towers Electric, Rob Attisano Electric, Todd Gelander Construction, and Willie Lawson (LCS).
