GUTTENBERG -- Anthony Giraldo was named the New Jersey winner of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award for wrestling.

One senior from each of 49 states that sponsor high school state wrestling championships were selected for this honor by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum.

Giraldo lives in Guttenberg, attends High Tech High School, and wrestles for North Bergen. He won state championships in both 2013 and 2014 and has signed a Letter of Intent to wrestle for Rutgers University.

The Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award was named for the late Olympic and world champion wrestler. Award recipients are evaluated on excellence in wrestling, scholastic achievement, character, citizenship, and community service.
