Funeral mass was offered May 18 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lyndhurst, for John J. Mitchell, 89. He passed away May 14. Mr. Mitchell was born and raised in Hoboken, living in Lyndhurst since 1994. He served in the National Guard during WWII. He was a longshoreman for Seatrain, Edgewater for over 30 years, retiring in 1982. John was a parishioner of Holy Innocents Church in Hoboken where he devoted much of his time and service. John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Amelia Mitchell; his children, John Mitchell, Jr. and his wife, Toni, Margaret Lepore and her partner, Judith O’Neill, Cathy Felicies and her husband, Jariel, Lori Meier and her husband, William, by his grandchildren, Kelly Ann, Christine, Andrew, JJ, Brandon, Kati, William Jr. and Ryan, his great grandchildren, Joshua, Tara and Rebecca and his brother, Richard Mitchell. Services arranged by the Nazare Memorial Home, Lyndhurst.
