After dispatching the Bruins from the ranks of the unbeaten, the (1-4) Blackhawks set their sights on pulling into a second place tie as they faced the (2-3) Red Wings in a Jewish Community Center of Bayonne’s Floor Hockey Jr. Division showdown. The Blackhawks raced out to a quick two goal advantage as Michael Egan hit his mark twice with Logan Mazziota assisting. The Hawks kept pouring it on as Egan returned the favor by assisting Mazziota on a scoring blast to put the Hawks up 3-0. While the Blackhawks’ offense pounded away, the Hawks’ defense out hustled the Red Wings’ playmakers as Harsh Easwar, Marcelino Soliman, and Alexandra Soliman kept the Wings scoreless for the first twenty minutes. As the final half of the game got underway, the Red Wings made their move as Drew Radil torched the nets for two goals off assists from Akshat Thakur and team captain Megan Feeley to cut the Hawks lead to 3-2. With the Hawks in their sights, the Red Wings’ Declan Good settled in at net making eight saves in the last ten minutes to help fuel the rally. As the Red Wings battled back, the Blackhawks’ Logan Mazziota gave his squad some breathing room by zipping in his second goal to make it 4-2, Hawks. With time fading, the Red Wings mustered one more push as Megan Feeley led her undermanned teammates in for one more goal, but in the end the Hawks held on for a 4-3 victory and a share of second place.
