A mass of Christian burial was offered Sept. 24 at St. Michael’s R.C. Church, West End, Long Branch, for Angelo Spadoro, 93, of Ocean Township. He died Sept. 19 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was a teacher and administrator for the Jersey City Board of Education, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Jersey City Education Association and UNICO. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII. Born in Jersey City to the late Giovanni and Cristina Spadaro, he moved to Ocean Twp. 43 years ago. He was predeceased by his wife Praga in 1995; his brothers, Peter, Salvatore, George and Joseph; and a grandchild, Elizabeth Anton. Surviving are three sons, Frank Spadaro and his wife Carol of New York City, Laurence Spadoro and his wife Valerie of Marlborough, MA and Philip Spadaro of Seattle, WA; three daughters and a son in law, Christine and Sergio Mezzina of Jersey City, Grace Anton of McLean, Va. and Joyce Spadoro of West End, Long Branch; a brother Michael Spadoro of Deal; two sisters in law, Palma Spadoro of Rutherford and Mercedes Swanson of Riverdale; eight grandchildren, Emily Anton, Michael Mezzina and his wife Samantha, Christopher Mezzina, Nicolas Spadaro, Maria Mezzina, Margaret Anton, Abigail Spadaro and Mallory Spadaro; a step granddaughter, Erica Rutt Gale, and many nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch.
