Funeral services were held Jan. 26 for Gladys L. Gabriel, 93. She passed away Jan. 23. She was the wife to the love of her life, the late Raymond F. Gabriel, Town Clerk of West New York. She was mother to her daughter Lynn Gabriel Mabli and her husband James Mabli. The greatest joys of her life were her grandchildren Dina Rae her husband Keith Linde, and James G. Mabli and his wife Connie. Gladys was the Great Grammy to Aidan James, Sean, Amanda Rae, Claire, Maura, Caitlin, and Bridget.

As a mother she was the nucleus and matriarch of her family, a continuous inspiration to her children, and was full of compassion, warmth, generosity, and love. Gladys was the sister of the late Lily and her husband William Donze, Louise and her husband Walter Schoen, Louis Schwab and his wife Susan, Albert Schwab and his wife Nora, Bertha and her husband Joseph Quaglieri, May and her husband Ralph Cinque, and Ethel and her husband Joseph Villanella. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gladys was a lifelong resident of West New York and an active member and past officer of the John R. Armellino Ladies Auxiliary.

She was employed by the Kaywoodie Pipe Factory. Gladys was also employed for many years by the West New York Board of Education as an Administrative Assistant at Public School 1 until her retirement in 2008. Gladys will always be remembered as a kind and woman who was to her coworkers, friends and family. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Care One at Valley Nursing Facility and the Community Hospice of Bergen County for their compassionate and care of Gladys in her final days.
