Send short, interesting missives to current@hudsonreporter.com. Or write Current, 1400

Washington St., Box 3069, Hoboken, NJ. Long, earnest letters on serious matters should go to the long, earnest journalistic side of the office.

Ryder the robber

I love Wynona Ryder! Why would she allegedly shoplift clothes from Saks Fifth Avenue? It just doesn't make any sense! - Janet, Weehawken

Ours is not to wonder why.

Picky public

With all of the movies mentioned in the Current last week ("Coming Attractions," Dec. 20), there is not one movie I want to see. Not one! - Mark, Jersey City

We find that hard to believe. We previewed everything from romantic comedies to stupid teen flicks to sci-fi extravaganzas to quirky independent films. There's even a war movie. There must be one movie that interests you.

Movie mystery

Why do the Hollywood movie studios save all of their best movies for the holiday season, when no one has any time to see a movie? ("Coming Attractions," Dec. 20) - Peter, Hoboken

Because they want the movies to be fresh in the mind of Academy members, who tend to have short memories.

Noggin

I love egg nog, but I'm trying to diet. What should I do? - Stacie

Try soy nog!

Trivial matters

I'm a trivia nut. Any way you can hook me up with other trivia fiends out there?

One of our editors plays a team trivia game at a bar out of town every week. She says it's tough but fun, and they have great toasted sandwiches. E-mail us and we'll put you in touch.

Kid-show debate

My friend says that "The Magic Garden" on Channel 11 was only seen locally. I say that it was nationwide. Who's right? - P.L., Hoboken

From what we know, it was local. But "Zoom," from Boston, was nationwide. It's good you and your friend are discussing the issues of the day. And they say Gen X is apathetic!
