Hoboken Republicans want Cammarano to resign

We got this letter from Peter Morgan of the Hoboken Republicans (yes, they exist):

Dear Editor:

Thursday was another sad day in Hoboken and Hudson County politics. For too long, residents of our community have disassociated from participating in local government or left our community on the view that corruption pervades our local government. Today's arrests of Mr. Cammarano and other Hudson County politicians reinforces that perception and may cause many to dissociate or move-on from our community. We believe that would be the wrong result.

During this time, our community must come together to seize local government away from the Democrats to elect a fiscally conservative Mayor in Hoboken that will ensure that Hoboken becomes independent of Hudson County's politics-as-usual. Our single priority in Hoboken today is to restore our local economy by cutting taxes, eliminating wasteful spending and attracting new business to Hoboken. This can only be done when we provide new businesses and Hoboken's community with the confidence they expect in our local government.

To that end, we The Hoboken Republicans call upon Mr. Cammarano to immediately step down from office as an embattled Mayor cannot support the needs of Hoboken during this critical juncture in our local economy.

Furthermore, we The Hoboken Republicans call upon all Republicans interested in running for Mayor to contact us at info@hobokenrepublicans.com.

Maybe this is the wake-up call that this community needs. I come a part of the country where an honest man can run for Congress, from the trunk of his car (i.e. President Gerald Ford), and win. Only a Republican who can self-fund his/her campaign (i.e. Bloomberg) could ever win in Hudson County. There are just too many people in this community who are happy with the status quo.

I very often vote Democrat in national elections but would vote for a Communist, Fascist, Alien, tree stump, homeless person, or primate before I vote Democrat for a Hudson county job. Really people, hasn't the last 100 years of this political machine politics here in Hudson proven we have to kick Boss Tweed out??!!

But, I'm sure we'll only have Democrats on the next ballot nonetheless. Too many people are either stupid, uncaring or worse complicit.

Not a repub but I agree with them. Petey must go immediately. None of his directors approved. There is too much uncertainty in his administration. We do not want a repeat by any cronies he may have appointed to directorships. Forget politics for a minute, can you honestly say you trust anything Peter said anymore? He obviously had his own best interest in mind and that involved obvious corruption and extortion.
