HOBOKEN — Hoboken Superintendent of Schools Mark Toback said at a press conference at City Hall at 2 p.m. on Monday that he hopes to reopen city schools on Thursday, although the opening is not certain. He and Mayor Dawn Zimmer both spoke at the press conference, and Zimmer expressed her concerns about a nor’easter scheduled to hit this area on Wednesday.

Toback discussed the status of the public schools, saying most of them were in good shape. Some classes and programs will have to be moved. Hoboken High School is being used as a center to give food and supplies to needy residents for the time being, with items stocked wall to wall inside.

Also, Zimmer said that the traditional Hoboken Ragamuffin Parade, which was rescheduled for this Friday, is now re-rescheduled for next Monday, Nov. 12.

In the parade, usually held on the afternoon of Halloween, the city’s children march down Washington Street and then compete for prizes in several costume categories.
