Private funeral services have been held for Armand (Matty) Donaruma, 99, of Doylestown, formerly of Union City, West New York and North Bergen. He passed away Dec. 31 at Neshaminy Manor in Doylestown. Matty graduated from Union Hill High School in Union City. A star basketball player, he was once written up in the Hudson Dispatch as ‘The Mighty Atom.’ Throughout his life, Matty had many passions and two of his favorites were popular music and ancient Roman history. Matty held numerous jobs in his life ranging from furrier to jewelry and stereo salesman to nightclub owner. A lover of popular music and a musician himself, he did weekend gigs as a guitar player and singer at various clubs in North Jersey. Matty is survived by his son John Donaruma (Patricia), his niece Maryann Miller, five grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca, Matthew, Alexandra, and Quintin and four greatgrandchildren Kiara, Kylie, Julianna and Victoria. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Clementina, a brother Phillip, a sister Argentina and his former wife Evelyn Schmitt. Services arranged by the Scanlin Funeral Home, Chalfont, Pa.
