A funeral mass was offered Feb. 25 at St. John the Evangelist Church, Bergenfield, for Mario Picca, 87, of Bergenfield, formerly of Cliffside Park and Hoboken. He passed away Feb. 21. He was born in Molfetta, Italy on November 8, 1925 and was one of nine children of Giuseppe Picca and Anna Valente Picca. He immigrated to the United States in 1948, where he met and married the love of his life, Angela ‘Mary’ Mezzina in December, 1951. She predeceased him and has waited at the gates of Heaven since 2008. He is survived by his three children, Joseph Picca, Frank and his wife Dawn Picca and Anna Marie Picca. He was the very ‘Grandpop’ to Mara, Nicholas and Anthony Picca and Vincent and Angela Rose Massa. He is also survived by two brothers still in Molfetta, Pietro and Giulio Picca and numerous nieces and nephews. Mario was schooled as an Italian Merchant Marine from 1936 to 1941, a house painter and then loyal employee of Maxwell House Coffee in Hoboken for 28 years. Services arranged by the Barrett Funeral Home, Tenafly.
