Dear Editor:

Do Mayor Healy and Freeholder Jeffrey Dublin really consider me an interloper? I wasn’t born here and my husband and myself chose to live here six years ago. Are we not welcome? We bought our home here, our children only know Jersey City to be their hometown and they attend public schools here. I have lived in many places, I am British / Peruvian / American and I actually cherish my rootlessness, this makes me who I am, but now I am here, I have made Jersey City more my home than anywhere I have lived before and I do what I can for our community, I believe in service and pulling together our variety of resources to make this city the best it can be.

Cities are not stagnant and neither are their residents, the world isn’t like that so embrace our city how it is and enough of the divisive comments. We are all part of a mosaic that makes this city great, my story is not unique and nobody has the upper hand here; when it comes to an election we all have a vote, we all count.
