NORTH BERGEN -- Palisades Medical Center recently celebrated National Volunteer Week by holding a special luncheon at The Waterside in North Bergen to recognize its dedicated volunteers for their tireless efforts.

During the Volunteer Recognition Luncheon, Margot Harris of North Bergen received a special recognition award for her many years of volunteer service at Palisades. Harris has been an active volunteer at PMC since 1986. Throughout her time at PMC, she has provided much-needed clerical support in PMC’s Finance Department.

“Margot holds a special place in the hearts of our employees and Medical Staff. She has always been well respected for her commitment to Palisades Medical Center and our local communities,” said President and CEO of Palisades Medical Center Bruce J. Markowitz. “We are proud to honor her for her years of dedicated volunteer efforts.”

During the Volunteer Recognition Luncheon, Palisades Medical Center staff also presented commemorative pins to several volunteers to recognize their cumulative hours of service.

More than 100 volunteers offer their time and energy in almost every department of the Medical Center. Volunteer activities at Palisades Medical Center include assisting the nursing staff and patients, working in the Gift Shop, performing clerical duties, and organizing special fundraising events. Volunteer positions offer flexible hours including nights and weekends. For more information or to volunteer, contact Denise Whitley, Coordinator of Volunteer Services, at 201-854-5011.

“Our volunteers play a vital role in helping Palisades Medical Center provide high quality care for our community,” said Markowitz. “They truly exemplify what it means to make a strong commitment to caring for our neighbors each and every day.”
