The once (4-0) Bruins have watched as the rest of the pack has gained ground in the Jewish Community Center of Bayonne’s Floor Hockey Jr. Division. Still leading the pack, the now, (5-1) Bruins locked horns with the surging (2-4) Blackhawks in hopes of avenging their lone defeat. The Bruins struck first as Matt Miceli assisted Ryan “Iron” Griffin on a scoring dart. Forty seconds later, the Hawks responded as Marcelino Soliman worked a pass to Logan Mazziota who tied the game at 1-1. Moments after tying the bout, Mazziota returned the favor by assisting Marcelino Soliman on a net jet to give the Hawks a 2-1 advantage. After briefly falling behind, the Bruins’ defense settled in as Victor Mendolaro brick-walled the net while Thomas Canela swept the scoring zone clean. Fueled by their defense, the Bruins battled back to take a 3-2 lead as Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes and Ryan Griffin each picked up a goal and an assist. Shortly after, taking the lead the Bruins cashed in again as Griffin reached the “Hat Trick” mark by scoring on a power play goal with Matt Miceli on the assist. Up 4-2, the Bruins plowed on as a Cifuentes lazar blast made it 5-2 while Miceli notched his third assist. With less than ten minutes remaining, things began to unravel for the Bruins as the Blackhawks caught fire with Logan Mazziota and Michael Egan each blasting in a pair of goals while also racking up points in the assist column. The sudden turnabout left the Bruins stunned as the Blackhawks tagged the Bruins with another defeat as the Hawks prevailed 6-5. A special mention must be given to the Blackhawks’ goalie Harsh Easwar and defensemen Alexandra Soliman who played key roles to insure the victory.
