HOBOKEN AND JERSEY CITY -- The rumors have been rampant. Ever since Maxwell's co-owner Todd Abramson said that the iconic rock club will close at the end of July, some have said he may be planning to reopen in Jersey City.

Abramson said that Hoboken's parking crunch and other issues have strangled the club/restaurant, which opened in the 1970s and has featured many famous bands (see link to our prior story below).

The New York Daily News reported on Tuesday that Abramson said he may open a venue in Jersey City.

The story says: "The rock veteran is thinking about opening a new venue in Jersey City. Hoboken’s Hudson County neighbor is buzzing, he said. Barcade — the watering hole/arcade hybrid — opened a Jersey City outpost in 2011 after succeeding in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Abramson noted."
