On Saturday, April 27, 2013, eight Liberty High School students along with three of their siblings and friends from neighboring schools participated in Lincoln Park West Earth Day Event. Spearheaded by the Department of Parks and Recreation of Jersey City, students and other volunteers throughout the city, gathered together for this event to clean up Lincoln Park after the effects of Super Storm Sandy ravaged the park's trees and walkways last November. Volunteers worked together to clean up branches and garbage, rake walkways clean, plant bushes and flowers to prepare Lincoln Park for its busy spring and summer season. Volunteers of Liberty High School included Gianna Maurissette, Tiffany Ortiz, Christopher Wilson, Dinesh Budhram, Julienne Guzman, Kai Stewart, Malliet Nyanbane, Anaceli Torres and Monica Garcia. Siblings and friends from neighboring schools Romario Desrosier, Fatima Leon and Brian Briddle also joined in the volunteer efforts.
