A funeral mass was conducted July 12th at St. Anne R.C. Church, Jersey City, for Raymond John Weber of Jersey City. He died on July 9th. Born and raised in Jersey City, Ray was a graduate of Dickinson High School. He was a three sport All-State Athlete in football, basketball, and baseball, and received a full scholarship to Colorado University. He was inducted into the Dickinson High School Hall of Fame. He left Colorado University to proudly serve in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1968 in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart. After returning from Vietnam Ray became a Jersey City firefighter for 25 years, and then went to work at the Jersey City Hose shop for 13 years. Ray was the son of Frank and Florence Weber (deceased). Ray was married to the love of his life, Diane (nee: Burzi) and was the father of Ray Jr. (JCPD) and his fiancée Vanessa, Dave (JCPD) and his wife Tracy, and daughter Lauren Weber and her husband Dennis Schwerdtfeger. Ray was the brother of Frank and his wife Marilyn (deceased), Barbara Gutjahr and her husband Hermie (deceased), Larry (deceased) and his wife Cloie, John, Kathy, Michael, Billy, and Judy Ottignon and her husband Dave. Ray was the grandfather of Michael Martucci, Justin, Sydney, Gianna, Marcus, and baby Alexandra. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
