The Hoboken Housing Authority hosted a Resident Unity Celebration Block Party on July 31 at Fourth and Jackson Streets and on the Mama Johnson Field. Public housing residents mingled with fellow members of the Hoboken community. A DJ spun dance music, while children enjoyed three water slides, a bounce house and Juggles the Clown making balloons.

Members of the Residents Association board participated in a pot luck, prepared fresh salads and sides to accompany the chicken dogs and turkey burgers on wheat which were provided by the Hoboken Housing Authority. Inserra Supermarkets donated all the soda and water and Room 84 donated the ice cream.

Volunteers from Hoboken Grace Church and housing residents all donated their time setting up, cooking and serving the food.

“This event brought the entire community together creating a neighborhood feel for a day of fun,” said Executive Director Carmelo Garcia. “There is nothing better than spending a summer day outside with your family and neighbors.”
