Dear Editor:

I am writing to extend my congratulations to all the residents of Hoboken who exercised their right to vote on November 5th. Each and every individual who took the time to cast their ballot should be applauded for having a keen interest in our Democratic process.

Our system of government is based on public participation, and our City always works best when more people participate. We all benefit from an open exchange of viewpoints, and my wish during every election season is that the maximum number of people go to the polls.

As a candidate for Council-at-Large, my candidacy fell short of victory. That said, I am proud of the issues that I raised in debate, and the positions on which I campaigned door to door. My platform sought to bring all Hoboken together so as to provide a better and more prosperous future for all of us as a community.

I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to everyone who supported my campaign in any way. I am deeply grateful for the trust and confidence that you placed in me, and pledge to continue to represent and uphold your interests whenever our values and concerns are at stake.

In particular, I would like to thank Councilwomen Beth Mason and Theresa Castellano for their strong and steadfast support throughout this campaign. Once again, both demonstrated leadership, independence, and a genuine concern for their constituents. The citizens of Hoboken are fortunate to have these two public servants involved in the civic life of our town.

As we look to the future, each of the candidates who ran on the One Hoboken slate can hold their heads high, because we campaigned tirelessly to help the over-burdened taxpayers, and for the City that we all love so much.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

Frank Raia
