Funeral mass was offered Dec. 2 at Our Lady of Grace Church for Eileen Rose Cowan, 89, a lifelong Hoboken resident. She passed away Nov. 29 at Cusack Care Center in Jersey City. Born in Hoboken to the late Patrick and Catharine Calligy, Eileen worked for the Unemployment Office of the State of New Jersey in Hoboken for 17 years. She was a lifetime parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Church in Hoboken. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 64 years, James Cowan; three sons, James, Joseph and his wife Mary, and Kevin Cowan; and her daughter, Joan Hoffman and her husband Andrew. A great joy in Eileen’s life were her grandchildren, Catherine, Andrew, Michelle, Elizabeth, Christopher, and Colleen. She was predeceased by her four siblings, Mary Callaghan, Joseph, James, and Thomas Calligy. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
