A funeral mass was celebrated Dec. 4 at St. Ann’s R.C. Church, Hoboken, for Joanne L. Petrillo, 63. She passed away peacefully Nov. 30 at Christ Hospital, Jersey City. A proud, lifelong Hoboken resident, Joanne was a licensed hairdresser for more than 30 years, spending many years at the Verdi Salon in Union City on Summit Avenue and later at Peachies Salon in Hoboken. Mrs. Petrillo was also employed at the John Paul R.C. School in Hoboken for more than 15 years and during that time, took on the responsibilities of Secretarial Assistant at St. Ann’s R.C Rectory for some 12 years.

She was a member of the Saint Ann’s Lady’s Guild and worked diligently on the annual Saint Ann’s Italian Festival. She will be sadly missed by her husband, retired Hoboken Police Sergeant Joseph Petrillo, who is presently the Recreation Supervisor for the city of Hoboken; her only son Joseph and his wife, Kelsey; her mother, Jennie Rutkowski; her brother, retired Hoboken Police Lieutenant John Rutkowski and his wife Alana; her sister in law, Honey Rubin and her husband Fred; and several nieces and nephews. Joanne’s father, Walter Rutkowski recently predeceased her in April of 2013. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
