A funeral mass took place April 25 at St. Aloysius Church for Teresita F. Tiongco, 75, of Jersey City. She passed away at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City on Easter Sunday while surrounded by her family. Born in San Fernando City, La Union, Philippines, Teresita came to United States in 1965. She settled in Jersey City at Murdock Hall. She began her nursing career at Pollack Hospital where she remained, and supporting the sick and the elderly for more than 20 years. She then brought her nursing expertise to the Harbor View Healthcare Center and Liberty House Nursing Home where her and compassionate presence gave comfort to the residents.

After retirement, she devoted her services as a volunteer to various organizations for the elderly, especially to the Philippine American Friendship Committee Development Center.

Teresita was a former communicant of St. Aedan’s Parish. Teresita is survived by her husband, Dandy Tiongco; son, Dante and his wife Anabel; daughter, Marie Tess Tiongco; brother Mario Flores and his wife Carmen; grandchildren, Marisa, Dean, Liam and Aria and her steadfast companion, her dog Keno. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
