HOBOKEN--A community meeting will be held Thursday Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. to discuss proposed safety improvements to Newark Street between Willow Avenue and Jefferson Street in Hoboken. The meeting will take place at the Multi-Service Center at 124 Grand St.

The meeting will discuss the streets "challenges" including poor sight lines, wide pedestrian crossings, high speed turns, frequent illegal parking on sidewalks by buses and trucks, limited pedestrian crossings, and lack of bike facilities.

“Newark Street is a gateway corridor into Hoboken and one of the most heavily trafficked streets in our city,” said Mayor Zimmer in a press release. “Through this project, we have a chance to make the engineering changes necessary to make Newark Street safer for everyone.”
