Funeral services have been held for Kathleen Hathaway, a lifelong resident of Jersey City. She passed away peacefully Oct. 8. She was born in the Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital, the fifth of six children born to the late Andrew J. Byrne and Cecelia (nee Morris). She was educated at St. Joseph's Grammar School and was a graduate of Dickinson High School. Kathy began her career with the Jersey City Board of Education in the Security Department in 1972. She later worked in Public School 28, Lincoln High School and was promoted to a position in the Central Offices working with Marilyn Roman until her retirement. Kathy met Kenneth Hathaway, and their union was blessed by a son, Thomas, who was the light of their lives. Kathy was predeceased by her Kenneth and brothers; Andrew, Dennis and Paul J. Byrne. She leaves behind to mourn her loss her son, Thomas; a sister, Barbara Donnelly of Brick and brother, Robert Byrne of Cliffside Park. She is also survived by nieces Kelly Ann Gualdarrama and Tina Byrne as well as nephew, Andrew J. Donnelly. She also leaves behind many great nieces and great nephews.
