HUDSON COUNTY -- A group that is challenging construction of the state's 9/11 memorial in Liberty State Park has just hit a roadblock.
An appeals court ruled that the Friends of Liberty State Park, a longtime activist group, didn't file their suit to stop construction soon enough. They should have filed within 45 days of the state's getting its permits in 2005, according to published reports.
The group had said that the memorial will block views of the New York City skyline, and wanted the project altered.
