Dear Editor:

As a Hudson County taxpayer, I am inquiring if there is any public information about the construction project in a suspended state in North Hudson Braddock Park. I have heard reports that there is contaminated soil discovered well after the construction was underway. Several questions follow regarding the project that need a public report issued and communicated to Hudson County taxpayers:

1. Is there a timeline or schedule for the required remediation? 2. What are the additional capital costs for the remediation and were they part of the original budget? 3. Was a contingency plan or survey done, including soil testing as part of the planning process before construction began, and who was responsible for issuing any required permits? 4. What is the maintenance cost for the rental fence that is required to protect the public from the site and what was the procurement process? 5. Who is responsible for the site? Brush and grass are growing out of control creating a fire hazard and there are no emergency number postings. 6. Has there been any discussion by original proponents of the stadium to abandon the project and restore the site to a park area? 7. There are construction supplies onsite that are not stored or secured properly that will probably need replacement.
