Getting a tough test in the last few weeks, the (9-0) Colts were hoping to learn from each outing as they ready themselves for the JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Jr. Division “Championship Tournament”. Next on their radar were the much improved (1-7) Bears who have begun to right the ship just in time for the tournament. Brawling to a 38-38 tie with just four minutes left on the clock, the Colts and Bears looked to be in championship form. Doing the heavy lifting for the Colts were Aaliyana Cifuentes (4 TD, 6 expts) and Christian Benson (1 TD, 2 expts) while the Bears racked up points with, David Matos (8 expts) and their first half “player on loan” Christian Benson finding paydirt for 4 TDs as Mariam Rasslan (1 TD) rounded out the scoring blitz. The Colts took a brief 44-38 lead on another Cifuentes TD but the Bears trumped their effort as a TD and two point catch by Matos put the Bears up 46-44. With just 42 seconds remaining, the Colts went on the attack with Anthony Fraser hauling in a huge first down toss. Two plays later, the Colts hit their mark as Benson latched on to a 10 yard TD dart followed by a two point swing pass to Cifuentes. Down 52-46, the Bears had their chances but two would be TD strikes to Anthony Baez and David Matos sailed just out of reach as the Colts held on for the 52-46 win.
