Battling to the wire the Bears came up just shy of their first victory in game one of their week three JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Jr. Division double-header as they fell 42-34 to the undefeated Colts. Gearing up for the (1-2) Jets, the now (0-3) Bears needed another strong outing by their offense. Getting off to a blazing start, the Jets scored on the game’s first play as the “Jacks Back” show started with Jack Kruchkowski notching a coast to coast TD catch and a two point grab. Moments later, the Jets’ Christian Benson put his squad up 14-0 on a 25 yard TD sprint. After lighting up the score board with 30 points versus the Colts, the Bears’ David Matos stayed unstoppable by reeling in a TD and two point pitch cutting the Jets’ lead to 14-8. Known for his QB skills and sure hands, the Jets’ Christian Benson added speedster to his football resume by torching the court on a wire to wire TD dash with Kruchkowski tacking on a two point catch making it 22-8, Jets. Turning to their own running attack, the Bears’ David Matos raced full court for a TD followed by Mariam Rasslan’s two point haul narrowing the Jets’ lead to 22-16. Kicking off the second half, the Jets took flight with TD tosses to Benson and Kruchkowski and two point passes to Aviv Talmor and Kruchkowski. Falling behind 38-22, the Bears’ defense stepped up by recording a safety making it 38-24, Jets. Playing their best game of the year, the Asouti brothers, Louai and Amir, turned short passes into big plays to setup a 10 yard TD dart to Amir Asouti to claw the Bears within eight points at 38-30, Jets. Putting the bout out of reach, the Jets refueled and soared to a 52-30 win as Benson tallied his forth TD followed by another Talmor two point catch and a full court TD gallop by Anthony Baez.
