CRICCO, MARY MARGARET

A funeral mass was celebrated Jan. 5 at SS. Peter & Paul R.C. Church, Hoboken, for Mary Margaret Cricco RN. She passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Dec. 31. She was born in Fargo, N.D., graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, and served as nursing supervisor in the operating room. Throughout her life, she used her natural organizational talents to keep daily life flowing in what appeared to be an effortless fashion. It was in the chapel of St. Mary’s that she met her husband, Dr. Carl F. Cricco, previously deceased. Together they made a home in Hoboken, where Mrs. Cricco lived for the past 73 years as matriarch of the Cricco family.
She was the mother to 12 children, grandmother to 39, and great-grandmother to 35 and counting. She was the last remaining member of seven loving McDonough siblings. Mrs. Cricco imparted her deep faith and special devotion to the Blessed Mother to her children, who survive her: Carol Cricco Barna (Joe), Barbara Cricco, Robert Cricco (Kate), Carl Cricco, Mary DePascale (Paul), Roberta Cricco-Lizza (Eli), Joseph Cricco (Donna), Michael Cricco, Donna Matakonis (Thomas), Mark Cricco (Donna), Eugene Cricco (Amanda), and Catherine Andelfinger (Michael).
Her home was the hub of daily family gatherings throughout her life. She was a gifted cook and her kitchen table was large enough to fit a crowd. She graciously made everyone feel welcome and special in her presence and always knew the exact kind words to share. She was the humble source of so much wisdom, kindness and loyalty for her family and neighbors.
