A funeral service took place Jan. 12 for Mary Sandwith Romano, 84. She died Jan. 8 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Hazlet. Born in Hoboken, the daughter of the late Antoinette and John Cerello, she lived most of her life in Jersey City before moving to Sayreville. She was a waitress at The Point Restaurant in Fairview and also the Four Star Diner in Union City. She was the wife of George Romano; mother of Harry Sandwith (JCPD), and his wife Deborah and the late Richard Sandwith; grandmother of Joseph Sandwith (JCPD), Nicole Sandwith McCabe, and Gina Sandwith (JCPD). Great-grandmother of Nicholas, Alexia, Mikaela, Chase and Devin.
