Secaucus Police apprehend alleged burglar

SECAUCUS – Secaucus police have apprehended a man wanted for a burglary last month, according to a press release from the department. On Dec 16, Donald R. Mormando Jr., 36, allegedly burglarized a home on Hagen Place, stealing over $10,000 in jewelry.
The NYPD recently arrested Mormando on the arrest warrant the Secaucus Police Department issued for him. The Hudson County Sheriff’s Office extradited him back to New Jersey on Jan 17, the release says. Mormando is charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Theft of Moveable Property. Though currently homeless, he is a former Middlesex County resident, according to Captain Dennis Miller.
He is also a suspect in the only other burglary reported in the town within the last six months. That burglary happened Dec 14 at a residence on Sparmann Place. Because that particular investigation remains ongoing, anyone with additional information is advised to call the Secaucus Police Detective Division at (201) 330-2052. You can also reach the division via email at detectivedivision@secaucus.net.
