A funeral mass took place Feb. 8 at Immaculate Conception Church, Secaucus, for Joseph F. Spiekermann, 68, of Point Pleasant, formerly of Secaucus. He passed away Feb. 3 at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick Township. Joseph had a passion for baking. He was the owner Spiekermann’s Bakery, established in Union City in 1919. Later, Joseph owned Mazur’s Bakery in Lyndhurst prior to his retirement. He has been recognized for his talents within the baking industry. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Edna (DeVoto) Spiekermann, he is survived by his wife, Roseann (Gargano) Spiekermann, and their three children: Jaclyn and Russell Guarcello, Donna and Garrett Van Alstyne, and Suzanne and Khoa Ngo. Also surviving are his three grandchildren: Santino and Gianna Guarcello, and Joseph Van Alstyne; his brother and sister-in-law Richard and Mary Lou Spiekermann; and extended family.
