Light rail service restored after gas line rupture

JERSEY CITY — After a brief interruption in service, Hudson Bergen Light Rail trains resumed service between Exchange Place and Newport stations after a gas line was ruptured in a nearby construction site on Feb. 20.
This is the second disruption in service in 10 days. Less than two weeks ago, a train struck a vehicle that had slid across the tracks in the same area.
The gas line was ruptured at a site near Second and Warren streets and also resulted in the evacuation of near by buildings for a short period.
Residents returned by evening and rail service resumed for the evening rush hour.
