90, of Irvine, CA, formerly of Bayonne embarked on his final journey to eternal rest passing away at home on January 17, 2017. Mike was born in Muchary, Ukraine in 1927, one of seven siblings to Theodore and Katherine Mindiak. Mike was taken from his home in 1943 during the height of World War II in Europe and was required to work on a farm in Zollenreute, Germany. This is where he met and fell in love with Martha (nee) Butcher. Mike came to the United States in 1951, settled in Bayonne and five years later, sponsored Martha to come to America and married shortly thereafter. There they raised three sons, Michael Jr., Edmund and Donald. Mike was a member of St. Andrew’s Parish where he served as an usher and became active in those activities his sons enjoyed; namely the Scouts for several years and the St. Andrew’s Kidets and St. Andrew’s/Bayonne Bridgemen Drum and Bugle Corps for many years. Mike worked in several paint factories prior to working as a Maintenance Man at Newark Airport for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for twenty-two years until his retirement in 1994. Mike and Martha spent their golden years together in beautiful Southern California. Mike was predeceased by his wife Martha in 2004 and leaves behind three sons: Michael Jr., his wife Kathleen and their two sons, Michael and Matthew; Edmund, his wife Kathryn and their two children, Kerry and Brendan; and Donald, his wife Michele and their two sons, Nicholas and Jonathan.
