County Prep teacher charged

JERSEY CITY — Francisco Pereira, age 31, of North Arlington, a teacher at Hudson County Prep, was charged on March 3 with three counts of Criminal Sexual Contact; two counts of Endangering the Welfare of Children, two counts of Harassment, and one count of Luring or Enticing a Child after a female student complained that he had allegedly harassed her.
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said that on Thursday, Feb. 16, a 19-year-old female student filed a report with the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office that she was being harassed by a teacher at County Prep High School located on Montgomery Street in Jersey City. A subsequent investigation by the Sheriff’s Office led to two additional alleged victims who are 17-year-old female students from County Prep High School. After his arrest, Pereira was held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility until he made his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court on March 4. Pereira was released on his own recognizance, but with a no contact order for both the school and the victims. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 27, 2017 in Hudson County Superior Court.
