Team Guttenberg slate kicks off 2017 election campaign

GUTTENBERG — The Team Guttenberg council kicked off its 2017 election campaign/fundraiser March 9 at West New York’s II Vaporetto restaurant. It happened a few days after Guttenberg Mayor Gerald Drasheff announced he would not seek reelection himself. Drasheff—who first won election in 2009–cited a desire to spend more time with his family as his reason for stepping down. The election will happen in November.
Councilman Wanye Zitt will head the ticket as mayoral candidate. Joining him will be Councilwoman Monica Fundora, Councilman John Habermann and Candidate for Council Richard Delafuente.
A number of elected officials, including Sen. Nicholas Sacco, Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto, U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez, Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez, and the departing Drasheff, attended the event. For more information on the kickoff, read the upcoming edition of the North Bergen Reporter.
