New Jersey Makers Day to be held at Uptown Library
The Uptown Library – located at 84-11 Bergenline Avenue – will host its third annual New Jersey Makers Day celebration March 25, at 11 a.m. The event has participants creating items using traditional tools as well as technology. Activities will include paper marbling, painting, jewelry making, cooking, and 3D printing. All ages are welcome. For more information, visit http://www.nbpl.org/.
Free screening of “Moana” to be held at Uptown Library
The Uptown Library will also host a free screening of the Disney film “Moana” March 25, at 2:30 pm. Refreshments, including popcorn, will be provided for free. The film has received two Academy Award nominations since its release last November, and has grossed over $600 million worldwide.
Cocktail party for autism research
The 6th annual Blue Cocktail Fundraiser for autism research is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m., at the Elks Club, located at 1005 Washington St., Hoboken. Tickets are $20 pre-sale person, or $25 at the door. All proceeds go to Autism Speaks on behalf of Xavier’s Trailblazers.
Mayor and town officials celebrate opening of new Italian restaurant
Mayor Nicholas Sacco, along with Commissioner Julio Marenco, Freeholder Anthony Vainieri, and other elected officials, recently cut the ribbon at the new Olivella’s Restaurant in North Bergen. The restaurant hopes to bring “the best quality authentic Italian food” to the town, according to Chef Salvatore Olivella. This restaurant, located at 7709 Begenline Avenue, is his very first one in New Jersey, though Olivella has other locations throughout the country. The restaurant will serve lunch, dinner, and brunch, with a full bar to be added shortly.
