To the Editor:
To the vast majority of your readers (thank your teachers), the mention of the “3Rs” brings to mind the areas of “Reading, Riting and Rithmetic.” Each forms the foundation of education, which is the key to future success.
Then you have the BOE (Board of Enrichment – Not). For them, the “3Rs” refers to “Retire, Resign and Relocate.” This is totally unfair to students, parents, and taxpayers because nothing can be gained. How so?
For students, they lose a well qualified caring teacher. To parents, they must question the quality of the school system in losing experienced teachers. To taxpayers, they will be concerned about the future of the community.
In this day and age, the “politically correct” thing is to play the blame game, namely it was not my fault. The two questions to be asked, “What did they know?” and “When did they know it?” I don’t think that is too difficult to answer.
One thing is clear that renovated bathrooms, gym floors, new classrooms (not for special needs students), lights, paint, nails, screws, etc. became a priority. This leads to a third and final question – are most members of the BOE (Board of Eloquence) willing to say more than “yes” or “no” at meetings?
