This year’s Baseball Parade marched down Bergenline Avenue and across town to 76th Street Field on April 18, led by North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco, Guttenberg Mayor Gerald Drasheff, and commissioners and councilpeople from both towns.
The parade was followed by an announcement that North Bergen is building a new park for baseball and softball at 76th Street, featuring artificial turf. Construction should begin shortly and the park is expected to be completed by October.
The event concluded with a softball ceremony to open the season for North Bergen’s 13 softball teams, with participants ages 7 to 18.
