SECAUCUS — The New York Post reported this weekend that a woman was horrified that she gave hand towels to a Jewish friend and then found out the towels contained small swastikas — a Nazi symbol — on them. She said she had bought them at a Secaucus department store.
While types of swastikas were ancient symbols used in various cultures, the variety in the newspaper photos appears to be the clockwise symbol that was adopted in 1920 as a symbol of the Nazi party.
The store in question apologized for the situation and said they’d remove the items from the shelves.
