SECAUCUS — Students in Mrs. Kelly Ingenito and Mrs. Geri Fitzpatrick’s Language Arts classes in Huber Street Elementary School celebrated Authors’ Day recently. Mrs. Ingenito’s fifth grade classroom was transformed into a book store setting. Tablecloths adorned the desks, student-created books were displayed in front of each student, and author banners were hung around the classroom. Parents who were invited to attend the festivities entered the room to their children waiting to escort them to their table. Mrs. Ingenito spoke to the parents about the inspiration behind the books and how extremely hard the children worked utilizing all aspects of the writing process to create their narrative pieces.
To quote Auggie Pullman from R.J.Palacio’s book Wonder, “Everyone in the world should get a standing ovation at least once in their life…” And that’s exactly what Mrs. Ingenito and Mrs. Fitzpatrick did for their young writers!
