Man arrested for alleged Hoboken sexual assault

As a result of an ongoing month long police investigation, on Tuesday May 30 at approximately 1:40 p.m. members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, Hoboken Police Department, and Passaic Police Department arrested 51-year-old Marcos Blandino of Passaic.Blandino was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of burglary.

On April 23, Hoboken Police received a report of an alleged sexual assault at a residence from a female victim. According to a press release from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, the victim reported she was walking home alone shortly after 6 p.m. and as she attempted to enter her apartment she was grabbed from behind and pushed into her home where she was allegedly sexually assaulted.

The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion for pre-trial detention of Blandino and his first court appearance was scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday May 31.

The Prosecutor’s SVU is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Hoboken Police Department. North Bergen man found guilty of 2015 Hoboken assault

On Thursday May 25, North Bergen resident Fundador Bonet, 36, was convicted by a Hudson County jury of aggravated assault after a four-day trial, according to a press release from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

The press release states that on Oct. 8, 2015 Bonet allegedly sent text messages to one of the victims, Joel Lopez, ostensibly arranging a time and place for Lopez to pick up his six-year-old child.

In actuality, those texts were allegedly sent to lure Lopez to a dead-end street in Hoboken where Bonet and several others jumped and assaulted Lopez and his cousin Jesus Vazquez.

Lopez sustained a gash to the top of his head, a black eye, a knot on his forehead, facial swelling, and bruising over his neck and arms.

The jury deliberated several hours before returning their decision of guilty on the aggravated assault count. Bonet was acquitted on two weapons counts of his indictment.

According to the press release Bonet, who was previously convicted of aggravated manslaughter and aggravated assault, faces up to five years in New Jersey state prison. Judge Patrick Arre is scheduled to sentence Bonet on June 30.

Jersey City resident charged with possession of heroin

On June 1, Jersey City resident Michael Miller, 49, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, three counts of bail jumping, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a Hoboken police report, while officers Luke Zeszotarski and Tyrone Huggins were on patrol they observed Miller in the area of Fifth and Jackson streets opening a small white package.

As the officers approached, Miller allegedly attempted to hide the package in his fist and then discarded it on the ground.  Huggins retrieved it and found what he believed to be heroin inside. Miller was then placed under arrest and allegedly had two more packages of heroin in his possession. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and later remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

Out of towner charged with DWI

On Saturday, May 27 at 3:07 a.m. Belleville resident Alicia Nazzaro, 22, was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI in a school zone, reckless driving, and driving the wrong way on a one way street.

According to a police report, while on patrol, officers Michael Losurdo and Joseph Dimartino observed a red Kia allegedly traveling the wrong way on Hudson Place. Once the officers stopped the vehicle they approached and immediately detected the smell of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. Losurdo spoke with Nazzaro, the driver, and asked her to exit the vehicle for a field sobriety test which she allegedly failed. Nazzaro was then placed under arrest and transported to headquarters where a breath sample was taken and she was allegedly found to be above the legal limit. She received summonses and was taken home by a responsible party.

Dine and Dash

22-year-old Jersey City resident Dorian Walker was arrested by the Hoboken Police Department on Saturday May 27 at 12 a.m. and charged with robbery.

According to a police report, Officer Marco Grossman and Special Police Officer Joshua Campoverde received a call saying a group of people ran out of a local establishment without paying their $260 bill with a restaurant employee in pursuit.

The group was found on Washington Street a short distance away, and when officers approached Walker allegedly ran away. The officers were able to catch Walker a short distance away.

The officers were advised that the employee who gave chase was injured, lying on the ground bleeding with a head injury. After further investigation the officers arrested Walker and charged him with robbery after he allegedly struck the employee. The employee was transported to Hoboken University Medical Center and Walker was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

Resident caught allegedly smoking marijuana

Hoboken resident Carlos Burgos, 22, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia on Saturday, May 27 at 8:50 p.m.

While officers David Dimartino and William Bullock were on patrol in the area of 601 Jackson St. they detected the odor of burnt marijuana, according to a police report. They observed Burgos a short distance away allegedly holding a small lit cigar. Upon noticing the officers he allegedly dropped the cigar on the ground. The officers approached Burgos and retrieved the cigar, which allegedly contained suspected marijuana. Burgos was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing before being released with a summons for a court appearance.
