OKC beats the Spurs, 72-71
I thought this will come down to the battle of the big men, Jeff Fortune (Spurs) and Dan Liming (OKC), but it came down to two of the great shooters of this league. JJ Hladik owned the first half scoring 18 points leading the Spurs and up by 13 points at the half. The second half belonged to the Guth: Justine Guthrie scored 23 in the second half, leading OKC to victory.
OKC: Justin Guthrie – 29, Matthew McMonagle – 18, Danny Liming – 11, Ramy Lawandy – 10, Jeff O’Kinkos – 2, Sean Onarce – 2
Spurs: JJ Hladik – 24, Jeffrey Fortune – 14, Ryan Gonzalez – 14, Rob King – 10, Brian Pipher – 9
Cavs defeated the Bucks, 53-50
Cavs, trying to keep pace with OKC for the league leaders in wins, had its hands full against the feisty Bucks. This game had a great pace, with high intensity and basketball IQ. Chinwe Wosu (17 points and 12 rebounds) and Jevon Henderson (15 points) kept the Bucks in striking distance, but the strong mentality of the Cavs and their will to play together till the last second was the difference, allowing them to outlast the Bucks. The Cavs’ Derick Holley, playing with a pulled hamstring, and Zach Liu led their team respectively in points and assists.
Cavs: Derrick Holley – 16, Jack Flynn – 14, Zachary Sean Liu – 12, Joey Stevenson – 7, Rodney Jean-Baptiste – 4
Bucks: Chinwe ChiChi Wosu – 17, Javon Henderson – 15, Kevin Johnson – 12, Leion Marion Navarro – 5, Corey Edwards – 1
